William's Wild West Showdown

I have been blown away by the response to William's recent Wild West Showdown. Thank you to everyone for your comments and posts. I would like to thank Amy Atlas for sharing some of the images with her readers here.

I hope you enjoy looking through more images from William's 5th birthday. Leanne Stamatellos captured the day perfectly. I have to say the relationship our family has built with Leanne over the past two years shows in these images. Both William and Olivia were so at ease with Leanne. Thank you Leanne. I know you know how special it is for me to have these memories to look back on.

I asked Anna from Invite with Style to create William's invitations. How cool are they? I feel it's very important to set the tone of a party with fabulous invitations. William's classmates certainly thought they were cool!

I lashed out with the props, I couldn't help myself. It's what I do.

The guests were greeted with mini choc milks. They came back for seconds and thirds. Paper straws available here. Mini glass milk bottles available here.

We offered a range of cookies, muffins and whoopie pies for the boys to snack on for afternoon tea. I love the cookie bar idea. There was also fresh fruit available too.

Plenty to keep the boys entertained. A hay bale treasure hunt. We hid sheriff badges and choc coins in the hay for the boys to find.

The animal farm was a huge hit.

We are blessed to have wonderful neighbours who we are lucky to be able to call friends. The two eldest boys demonstrated whip cracking for the younger boys. Thanks Johnny and Fraser, you did a wonderful job.

I made William's cake and was really happy with the result. I got the design from here. I changed it a little, but the initial concept was from Sam's Cakes.

Me and my BFF

Life has been hectic over the past few weeks however I wouldn't have it any other way. It's not like it's been so crazy that I'm out of control, but crazy enough that something's got to give and so the blog usually draws the short straw.

This week is no exception. However I thought I would start posting a few photos from my trip to San Fran and the big apple. To say I had a good time is an understatement. Without getting all Eat, Pray, Love on you my trip was quite cleansing for my soul. I had time to just be me. To reflect and to assess where I've been and where I'm headed.

There were not so good times too, like when I lost my bag in NY with my laptop and medication. That was not fun. And no, I still haven't had it returned. So with the laptop went all my photos from San Fran. And there were some good photos in there. Not great technically but great memories. Luckily I have a good memory hey?

So here's where I bore you with holiday snaps. I think I'll just post random ones. Cause that's just how I roll.

Amy Atlas and I in NYC

I'm going to start with the most impressive. I was fortunate to meet up with Amy Atlas while in NY. She is genuine and welcoming. I didn't feel at all intimidated by her. She was very complimentary to us party gals in Australia. She thinks there must be something in the water cause we all produce such well designed tables! Her book is due in the spring of 2012 and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

So after we took this photo and I looked at the camera screen I realised how HUGE I looked in relation to Amy. She is tiny, tiny, tiny! So I sang her a little song and it went a little something like this.

"Fatty and skinny went for a race, up and down the pencil case. Fatty fell over and skinny won the race." You had to be there, it was pretty damn funny.

Thank you Amy for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me. I truly appreciate it.

I'll be back with more happy snaps soon.

Coastal Chic Dessert Table

It's been a little while between posts however I've been living it up in the good ole US of A! I had a fabulous time and will do a few posts over the next couple of weeks.

While I was away my latest work was featured on Amy Atlas. Thank you Amy for the feature and for saying my designs always ROCK!! You ROCK too!

I had the pleasure in meeting up with Amy while I was visiting the upper east side. I love saying upper east side hehe. More on that soon.

So here are the beautiful images Naomi from Naomi V Photography captured of my Coastal Chic dessert table before it was attacked by Gary's guests. My client is an avid yachtsman and loved what I created for his 50th Birthday. My favourite part is the backdrop. It's a Ralph Lauren wallpaper and I just happened to have a roll left over from wallpapering my son's room a few years ago. It certainly set the scene for a tranquil dessert table.

Blown away

If you are regular visitor to my humble little blog you probably know that we celebrated my son's 4th birthday last weekend with a navy blue and kelly green pinwheel themed party.

William's Dessert and Candy buffet

In my last post I thanked a group of fabulous blogs that kindly featured William's birthday dessert table. I was blown away with the response.

A few nights back I received an email from Amy Atlas and my breath was quite literally taken away. Read her post about my dessert table here. Her encouraging words have made my year!

I think it's wonderful that someone so highly regarded in the event planning industry takes time out to give her followers feedback and encouragement.

Deborah McLean

Thank you Amy, you are still my no. 1!
