Ralph love

There is nothing I love more then relaxing here after a busy day. My favourite place to sit is my blue and white Ralph (Island Key Floral) armchair. I turn all the lights out, leaving the pendant lights in the kitchen on low. I can see a faint reflection of light outside on the pool and it's just magical.
My other favourite piece in this room is the white table next to the chair. I found it on eBay for next to nothing, had it painted white and viola!
I'm on the lookout for some gorgeous artwork for that big blank wall too. Not sure what road I'll go down there though. I'd love a huge original piece to hang, just haven't found the one I love just yet.

Trade Fair success

For the past five days I've been in Sydney at the Reed Gift Fair helping out my BFF with her fab new business.
We had so much fun and along the way managed to sign up some amazing retailers .... Lily-G, Pigotts Store, Reclaim and Magnolia to name but a few.
It was so reassuring for Keren to hear everyone comment on how gorgeous the Bungalow range is and how excited these retailers where to find new, fresh and affordable designs to stock their shelves.
I think she is on a winner!

Surgery today

My Dad is having surgery today on his spine. There is a 1% chance that he will regain some feeling in his legs, so my Dad is embracing this and running with it.
Dr Teo will be performing the surgery.

UPDATE: Dad didn't go into surgery and has actually had is postponed twice due to his blood tests. He is currently in Prince of Wales awaiting his op. Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers.

Fabulous face painting

We met the most talented face painter on the weekend, check these out!

Say a little prayer

My Dad is off to meet with Dr Charles Teo tomorrow. Dr Teo is has a highly regarded international reputation in the treatment of adult and paediatric brain tumors, skull base surgery, neuroendoscopy, and functional neurosurgery.

If you could say a prayer for my Dad and Dr Teo I would be ever so grateful. We are praying that Dr Teo can help my Dad with his condition. In the past few weeks, Dad has deteriorated and is now in a wheelchair after losing full function of his legs. It's devastating to see my Dad in that condition. He is only 57 and was surfing everyday a few years ago.

Keep him in your prayers.

African Safari

I thought I'd share with you where Perry and I are going to stay during our adventure to the Okavango in Botswana. This will be my sixth trip to Africa and during that time we have travelled all over Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and Namibia.

For one week Perry, my father-in-law and I will travel to the Okavango in Botswana. We will be staying at Mombo Camp, on the northern tip of Chief's Island within the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. The camp is built under large shady trees and overlooks an open floodplain area that boasts enormous concentrations of plains game and large predators - lions in particular - providing what is arguably the best big game viewing in Botswana.
I'm excited ...... are you???? hehehehe

African Family Adventure

Gerry and my favourite African bird, the lilac breasted roller

Zebras on the plain

Buck at sunset

Well it's official. Tickets have been booked and we are off on our first overseas family holiday.

Seems so funny saying that. As a kid, the only place I ever went was Caloundra for family holidays. We would always go just before or after school holidays to save a little money on peak season rates.

So our destination: Zimbabawe! My husband was born and raised there and moved to Brisbane (by himself) to study in the early 1990's. His mum lives with us on our property and his Dad still works in Zimbabwe on various mines.

His parents are selling their family home, so Perry wanted our children to see where he grew up and meet Betty, who has been with his family since he was a tiny tot.

Feels like I've got a million things to do before we leave in two weeks time. I've got a trade fair to attend and suitcases to pack. Better get moving!

Launching new product in Australia

This week I've spent most of my spare time preparing for Reed Gift Fair that is being held in Sydney in a few weeks.
My BFF Keren has a super exciting business that sources innovative, functional and beautiful products for the Australian market. Keren and her brother Gavin (aka Bob, as in Bob the Builder) own and run their business together.
We've been waiting for the Bungalow stock to arrive for what seems like forever. And the wait has certainly been worth it! I cannot start to describe how gorgeous all the fabrics are. Included in the range are cushions, tablecloths, napkins, tea towels and toiletry bags. And early next year Keren will add quilts and duvet covers! Yay!

Each piece of fabric in the Bungalow collection is hand block printed in India. We love the charm and vividness of these traditional prints, and think you will too!

In a few weeks time, once all the stock arrives I'll have a little giveaway here. I just can't keep all this gorgeousness to myself!

If you are a retailer that is interested in stocking Bungalow, visit the The Brown Trading Co. website to find out more.

Would love your input

I'm looking at a few antique pieces for our home at the moment. First off the rank is a chest of drawers for my husband. This will be placed in our bedroom.
Any input on the three pieces below would be much appreciated!
