Crisp mornings

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful the weather is in Brisbane just now.  Just enough bite in the air to sit on the verandah with a cup of spiced chai tea and a blanket on my lap.  Bliss in a cup!

Are you a summer or winter person?  Myself, I love a balance.  I don't like to sweat.  I like to be able to wear a cardi without feeling too hot.  Got to love Brisbane winters.

For the Little Miss Perfect in all of us

I love navy and pink as a colour combination.  Always have, always will.  So I when I stumbled across this sweeter than sweet preppy style setting, my heart skipped a beat.

I'd love to adapt this and use as a base for my birthday party.  Oh, I'm not planning on having one, but just in case I do, this will be my inspiration!

What are your favourite colour combinations?

One of my dreams

I've just finished reading Shannon Fricke's latest post about her 40th birthday holiday in Paris.  It sounds magical.  I really do hope to be able to do this one day with my girlfriends.  You can read all about it here. Be prepared for some drool.

Does it get much better than this?

50 acres of Tecolote Giant Ranunculus!  Gee, I could seriously get lost in those.  Read more about it here.

Lest We Forget

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Thank you and goodnight ......

..... well, good weekend away.
Thanks for the lovely, sweet comments this week. All very much appreciated. My week has ended much better than it started, much to my relief.
Olivia, William and I spent three nights with my Dad earlier on this week. He is lucky enough to live at the gorgeous Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast.
My dear Dad is battling cancer and it was a delight to be able to spend quality time with him and see my children interact with him.
Here are a few photos of our time together.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
xx

Tough days

I've had a trying day.  Lots of tears, all from me.  Without going into details, this quote below made me cry as soon as I read it.

"Your toddler will do what they need to do, and not necessarily what you say. If you're patient, then they will be patient. If you speak gently, then they will be gentle. Whatever you want them to be, you have to start becoming.
"

I'm so excited.....

and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it, oh yeah!!!

Ok, sorry I got a bit carried away, but I'm super excited to share with you this original painting I purchased from Black & Spiro last Friday. The colours will work perfectly in our home, only problem is, where to hang it?  It would look perfect in so many rooms.

Once it's home and hung I'll post more photos of where we decided to make it's home.

Two of my loves

Here are my two poppets having the time of their lives today on the slip 'n slide.
Of course, they had to be naked.  What is it with my two and them getting their gear off?  Do other parents have this problem?

A little bedroom love

I've just discovered the work of interior designer Kristen Buckingham via Little Green Notebook and I'm smitten.

I wish I'd seen this photo before building our house. I just love the little alcove bookshelves. I think this sort of feature in a new build home gives it character and lends itself to feeling the house has been there a little longer than it really has.

This whimsical lamp base would look right at home in my daughter's bedroom. Isn't it the cutest?

I'm currently on the look out for a sweet shelf similar to this one to hang in Olivia's room.  I'm open to all ideas: buying it complete, having it made or finding a vintage shelf that needs a little lovin'.  This gorgeous one is from Cox and Cox in the UK, found via ABT.

The one below is available in Australia from The Princess and the Pea but is only 77cm wide, so if anyone knows of where I could find a pretty little shelf please drop me a line.

Wonder filled weekend

To the tiny little audience I have, I think I can count them on one hand (hehe), I hope you have a relaxing and wonder filled weekend.
I've got a lovely day planned today to lead me into the weekend.  A spot of shopping for easter supplies and then off to the hairdressers.  Oh me oh my, how I need to see my hairdresser.  Then tonight, I'm catching up with a group of glamorous girls for a glass of bubbles and a good laugh.
I really need my girlfriend time and I'm so looking forward to it.
I'll spend the rest of the weekend with my little family, going to ballet and helping a friend make her wedding cake.
High on the agenda is decorating our house ready for Easter next weekend.  I'll leave you with some of my favourite images from my sister from another mother - good old Martha.  Gotta love her!

Sew sweet

It's one of my goals this year to learn how to sew.  I purchased a fancy shmancy machine a few years back but I've been too scared/lazy to even thread the thing up.
This is a quick iphone snap of our dearly loved kitty "Simba" helping helping Gogo (Grandma) sew tonight.  Simba is way ahead of me already!

Pretty in Pink

I'm loving these two rooms from designer Joe Nye.  I do love me a bit of pink!
Aren't those cushions just to die for.  Two of my faves all rolled into one - pink + silhouettes = heaven!
