A little treat from me to you

As you know my favourite candy jar to use in my dessert tables is the Rosie Jar. I even used them for the Oprah hosted Baby Shower.

I wanted to be able to say thank you to you, all my readers for your support and lovely comments and emails about the Oprah event.

So I bought a heap of Rosie candy jars and I'm going to host a little special on them.

Rosie Offer

For a limited time you can purchase both the small and large Rosie jar for $50. Click here to be taken directly to this offer on my website.

Adore Magazine British Edition

The latest issue of Adore Magazine is out now and I had the pleasure of working on the High Tea feature. Lots of delicious recipes to drool over and some beautiful photography too by Naomi V.

This is my favourite image. I made mini individual orange and poppyseed cakes with lemon drizzle and passionfruit curd tartlets. The mini cake tins I purchased in New York Cake however I recently saw them at Robins Kitchen.

Thank you to Roberta from Green and Bloom Weddings for her floral arrangements and to Linda from Bubble and Sweet for making the scones, melting moments and macarons.

Also thanks to Jessica at Pen & Paperflowers for designing the queen silhouette I used on the cupcakes.

Click here to view Adore Magazine British Edition. There is a fab interview on Selina Lake too.

Oprah hosted Baby Shower

The wait is finally over and I can share the images of the Baby Shower I designed and styled for Oprah while she was in Melbourne in December 2010. Oprah hosted this shower for a local Melbourne mum, Catherine Shranks at the beautiful baby boutique Bebe.

I will do a feature here on my blog on each vendor over the following week, however here is a list of the talented and extremely giving people and businesses I had the pleasure of working with on this once in a lifetime project.

FAQ answered

How did you get the Oprah gig?

I received a PM from Mini Gaga a facebook 'liker' on my business page on facebook. Without this I would have never known about this amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you Mini Gaga. You are a gem!

What was Oprah like?

Engaging, warm and down to earth. She is just like you see her on TV - very genuine. Truly a pleasure to meet.

You seem pretty relaxed about it all, I'm more excited than you!

Well yes, I was/have been very relaxed about it all. I was all consumed with it before I actually received the nod from the producers, but then it was head down bum up. The timing of the Baby Shower coincided with my childrens kindy and school break ups. I don't really want to ever have to catch a 5am flight to Melbourne during day light saving ever again. Far too many in one week!

Whilst I will be eternally grateful for this opportunity, I'm more grateful for my little family and that has and will always be my first love.

A few behind the scenes photos to get you excited about tonight!

A little late night hot glueing never hurt anyone. Actually, I was burnt in the process. However, I putting that down to lack of sleep :)

Here is my partner in crime. Ruth Buzzard from Specklefarm. She was my right hand gal. Couldn't have done it without you Speckles! xx

Baby Shower Inspiration

Only a few more sleeps to go until the big O! Thought I would give you a little background on the job and how it all took shape.

Here are the inspiration boards I submitted to the Oprah Show producer. I sweated it out for 3 days before I heard back and got the go ahead as it was over the Thanksgiving weekend. Longest three days of my life.

What Julie loved the most were the baby booties made of cake and the idea of masses of flowers in three shades of pink. I had less than an hour to pull this together and email to her.

Hope you will all be tuning in on Thursday night at 7.30pm Network Ten.

Baked Relief

For those of us not directly affected by the floods here in Brisbane and you are looking for a way to help why not whip up a batch of muffins, cupcakes, bikkies, scones or a slice and drop down to your local SES depot (if safe to do so).

My son turned five today and instead of our usual birthday festivities my children helped me bake dozens and dozens of cupcakes and other baked goods, we made ham and salad rolls by the boot load and mixed up old fashion cordial for all the workers at our local SES.

My dear friend Danielle from Digella Emporium has been busy doing the same. She has started a Baking Revolution! It's called Baked Relief.

Here is a list of SES Centres:

Guyatt Park, Bryce Street, St Lucia

Botticelli Street Park, Botticelli Street, Fig Tree Pocket

Hawthorne Park, Cnr Park and Oak Street, East Brisbane

Perrin Park, Josling St, Taringa

Darra Works Depot, Shamrock Rd, Darra

Morningside Works Depot, Redfern Street, Morningside

Newmarket SES Depot, Wilston Rd, Newmarket (in carpark off Erneton Street)

Zillmere Works Depot, Jennings Street, Zillmere

Stafford Works Depot, Turner Road, Kedron

The tireless workers have been so thankful for the little treats we presented them with today. May their tummies be full and this food help them keep up the tremendous work they are doing.

My husband has spent last night and tonight shovelling sand into bags, doing something to help. He just called me and said everyone is in good spirits and they are making the best of this terrible situation.

My heart is heavy for all my friends that have and will be affected in the early hours of tomorrow morning. Keep safe.

Project SHINE

As some of you would be aware Queensland has been hit hard by recent bad weather and there are so many families out there that have lost everything due to flooding.

We have also had our fair share of water. The inside of our home has been spared, literally by millimeters. However the damp has begun seeping through the slab in our guest house and the floor boards have begun to warp.

IMG_2145

I've lost count of how many times this has happened since the 15th December. Over 10 times!

Apparently there is more rain ahead of us! Even as I type this post we are flooding again. Oh what now!

The Ribbonerie, San Fran

One of my favourite places Glory and I visited when I visited her in San Fran last October was The Ribbonerie.

I lost all my San Fran photos along with my laptop however Glory has just posted some gorgeous photos of the store on her blog.

Here I am playing peekaboo in amongst all that gorgeous ribbon.
