  4. Not sure if this comp is open to New Zealanders but I would absolutely love to win this!

I started up a baking blog a little over a year ago and Amy has inspired me to make dessert tables for friends and families. I made a Toy Story dessert table for my mums 50th last year, all thanks to Amy's inspiration.

Also, I love your blog, it is so beautiful and is also an inspirational!

  5. I love the creativity and loveliness of Amy's food and party ideas. I have attempted some of the ideas myself but are not as successful as yet, I wish to be able to do things like hers eventually.

  6. Amy's blog inspired me to start doing dessert tables for my kids birthdays. Up to 4 so far and nowhere near as fantastic as Amy's but getting better each go!! xx

  7. Amy inspires me to take pride in the small things - my (not always) perfect cupcakes, our lovingly laid table and the creative celebrations we share with family and friends. Turns out these are expressions of something very large - love. And nothing is more inspiring that that - thank you Amy!

  8. I started blogging almost a year ago in order to share all the amazing and inspiring things I found on the net. I have always loved events, styling and baking, but until I started my blog, hadn't heard of Amy Atlas. Once I found out about her I was in love (and awe) with all the amazing things she has created and the business and brand she has built for herself. So many people are inspired by her and she is a true mentor to anyone and everyone looking at getting involved in the events, craft, baking, styling, blogging and branding industries. If I ever do anything anywhere near as amazing as Amy, I will be so proud and so grateful to her for her inspiration.

  9. OMGOSH!!! I Would be SO EXCITED to win this signed copy of Amy's new book Sweet Designs. Amy's blog was the first professional dessert stylist I stumbled across back in 2009. I still remember the first thing I ever found & read about Amy was the party she styled for Brooke Shields daughter. And I have been a huge fan & admirer ever since. Oh Fingers Crossed. Thank you so much Sharnel for this opportunity : )

  11. When I found out that I was going to be planning a baby shower for my oldest daughter, 2 years ago, I immediately searched the internet for party ideas. I've always loved planning parties and entertaining, but as an avid baker, was wanting to do more to display my homemade desserts for this special occasion. When I searched, Amy's site was the first one that I came across...had never even heard of the concept of decorative dessert tables...and WOW - was I overwhelmed and my passion just went through the roof! Thank you Amy! Now, being out of work for over a year, I've decided to turn my passion into a business...with inspiration from Amy, Sharnel and all those that have followed in their footsteps as well! I so hope to win this book for additional inspiration and guidance as I continue to make a 'go' of my dessert table business. :)

  12. Amy is to event tables as is Bakerella to cake pops - an absolute guru and pioneer in her niche. Her work is always impeccably displayed, thoughtfully appraised and endlessly creative. I try to do amateur dessert tables to show off my invitation work for photos and I would dearly love to pull off something with even a tiny bit of her panache...still waiting!

  13. What a fabulous giveaway - thank you!

I love that Amy inspires me to make the most spectacular (or sometimes quite simple) parties for my beautiful little girl just through a bit of thought, colour, levels, the applicaiton of simple details, theming and a whole lot of love. For me, putting together an Amy Atlass inspired party is another way for me to tell my beautiful little girl, "I love you!"

  22. Like many others i hadn't really heard of a dessert table but wow...the inspiration from Amy, yourself and many other creative ladies got me to attempt it! My first attempt for my baby girl's christening wasn't too bad and my family and friends loved it! It created such a talking point and now some of my friends have also attempted dessert tables. Amy seems like such a genuine lovely person and i love reading her blog!
So i guess Amy has inspired me to give it a go and who knows what you can create! Sometimes the simplest ideas work the best!

  23. Growing up, my mum and dad loved entertaining friends and family at home. From this, my love of planning and decorating parties and events grew. I had always wanted to be an event stylist but never quite had the courage to follow my dream. Last year, whilst planning my son's Christening, I came across Amy's website. I was in awe of her beautiful designs and attention to detail. I was also inspired by her story. I particularly admire the way Amy supports other stylists with featured submissions on her blog and shares her knowledge (a sign of a wonderful leader and mentor). With encouragement from my friends and family and the support of my husband, I have now started my own company - styling events and designing dessert and lolly tables. I am always referring to Amy's blog (as well as our creative Australians) for recipes, ideas and inspiration - thank you! PS. Sharnel, thank you for this opportunity and also for your wonderful blog and ideas. You were the first Australian stylist I came across and I bought my very first apothecary/candy jars from your retail site. Nicole x

  29. I didn't realise there was this whole fantastic world of party planning and lolly buffets, and so many gorgeous finishing touches until I was organising a surprise party for my mother and stumbled upon Amy Atlas. That party was a pink-and-white dessert table, and a hit! Thanks to Amy. Since then I've hosted parties for my son and my husband, and I'm very much looking forward to my two daughters' parties later this year. Parties are FUN! :)

  37. I am sure Amy has inspired many to host the perfect party, dress the dessert table in perfect colour and theme. However to me she has inspired me in a much more personal way. She has inspired me to overlook societies biases and pressures of just being a stay at home mother – that women can really make their mark in society and achieve something in their life before and after having their kids. Amy has risen to a position of such stature in her field, that she has really proven you can have your cake and eat it too.

  38. Just like Amy started out, I am a lawyer with no design background. Amy has inspired me to delve into my creative side, not only for dessert tables but in many aspects of my life.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That those small details make it so much more personal and give it such a wow factor. Her dessert tables for example - everywhere you look there is a detail that catches your eye and makes you smile in amazement. Her creations ensure that the person celebrating feels that such care has gone into making their day so special.

  42. Amy gave me the confidence to make things simple. I always thought I was perhaps a little staid with my parties, always putting the same things together, lining them up, using white plates...and when I found Amy (and this blog) I embraced my love of simple styling.

  43. Amy is surely the original creator of the dessert table and has inspired so many people and spawned an industry that has taken over parties worldwide - I'm thrilled to have discovered her not only as I have used her ideas and styling as huge inspiration for my own kid's parties and she was kind enough to feature Poppy's party on her website, but because she inspired you Sharnel, and your style, talent and creativity is equally as mind-blowing and inspirational. I was just about to order her book in Book Depository, but I'll wait just in case!

I love how Amy has made it OK - more than OK- for mums to host stylish and chic parties for their little ones. I had always felt I was a bit over the top dreaming up little details to suit the themes of my chidren's parties. Amy has been an inspiration through making parties and events "a language of love" that will go in my family's memory banks forever. Many thanks also to Sharnel for being a local creative talent who is generous with her advice and support.
